Titan Tackling
At Antelope, our philosophy is to take players “Head out of the Game” by incorporating the Titan Tackling Philosophy. Some major changes have happened over the last few years to help reduce concussions. As parents and fans of the sport it is important that we make some changes to help our youth become better tacklers as well as stay safe. The Titans philosophy is to make sure we become BETTER tacklers, using proper technique, all while keeping the game safe for our kids on both sides of the ball. Below are some of the techniques and methods we use to ensure the safety of our players by keeping your “Head out of the Game.”
Strike with your chest – Good athletic stance, never lead with your head, eyes up, and strike with your chest FIRST!
Close the Angle - Explode hands and hips on contact. Get hip to hip with the ball carrier by “popping the hips” as well as squeezing the ball carrier’s hips into yours and raising their center of gravity.
Accelerate feet through contact – Drive through the ball carrier by running him back to where he came from.
Leverage Peck –We no longer expose our head by putting our head on the ball or putting our head across the ball carrier
